Many women struggle with vaginal dryness, and sometimes too much of a good thing is not ideal either. Too much moisture in the form of vaginal secretions can become a problem: Where there is a lot of moisture, there is less friction and therefore less feeling for both of you. We'll show you what causes it can be if you're too wet during sex.
When does a vagina that is too wet become a problem?
If you feel like having sex or get aroused during foreplay, the vaginal fluid will at best make your vagina moist. But if the vagina is too moist, there is less friction between the penis and vagina during penetration - similar to using too much lube. Then it can happen that you as a couple hardly feel anything during sex and cannot experience an orgasm. In this case, you should investigate the cause. However, if your vagina is just very wet and you still find the sex arousing, there is no problem. Every woman produces a different amount of vaginal secretion. So don't be unsettled if your sexual partner suggests that you are too wet.
#1 cause: ovulation
If you are just very wet during sex at times, it may be because you are ovulating on those days. Your vaginal secretions will change depending on which day of your cycle you are currently. For example, just before you get your period, you are drier, while about 14 days after the first day of your menstrual period you can be significantly more humid. On these fertile days, your body produces more vaginal secretions with a protein-like consistency, which is particularly sperm-friendly.
Solution: To see if you get very wet just on the day around ovulation, you should know your cycle exactly. Cycle apps are very imprecise for determining ovulation. Measuring your basal temperature with a basal thermometer works better.
#2 Cause: Too Much Estrogen
If your hormone levels are not balanced, your body may be producing too much estrogen, making you too moist. This can especially be the cause if you are not only very wet during sex, but also otherwise.
Solution: Talk to your gynecologist and have a blood test done. If your hormone balance is actually not in perfect rhythm, you will be advised accordingly. You may be able to switch to an estrogen-free pill. A change in diet can also help regulate your homons: With Seed Cycling you can bring your estrogen balance back into balance.
Many women do not dare to ask these important questions when going to the doctor:
#3 Cause: You're extremely aroused
If you are not in the mood at all, your vagina will be very dry. But if the mental cinema starts before sex or if you can't wait for it to get down to business, the production of your vaginal secretions also increases. It is quite possible that this can turn out very differently from sexual partner to sexual partner.
Solution: That you get very wet when you are very excited is a good sign! Maybe you just have to get used to the fact that your current sexual partner arouses you significantly more than others. If the excessive moisture bothers you, it is sufficient to dry yourself with some toilet paper before you start.
#4 cause: infection
It is possible that increased production of vaginal secretions is a physical reaction to an infection (e.g. from a fungus). If the high humidity is a sudden phenomenon and the discharge has an unpleasant odor, consider this option.
Solution: In this case, too, you should go to the gynecologist and have yourself examined. If an infection is found, you will likely be prescribed an ointment or vaginal suppository.
#5 Cause: drops of pleasure
The woman is not always "to blame" for a strong feeling of moisture. Some men release a lot of pleasure drops when they are very excited, which, together with the vaginal secretion, ensure a lot of fluid.
Solution: In this case too, consider yourself lucky that you aroused one another so much. Excess drops of pleasure can be wiped off beforehand with a handkerchief.
Vagina Too Wet: Tips for Better Sex
Your hormone level is okay, you have neither an infection nor ovulation? If you still get too wet during sex, here are a few things to try:
Use a dimpled condom (ensures increased friction), dimple penis attachments, try other positions with higher friction potential
No-gos if you're too wet to have sex
If you think that you are too wet during sex, the idea is to actively dry your vagina - for example by inserting absorbent tampons. However, if you are not on your period, this can disrupt your vaginal flora and promote both vaginal thrush and bacterial vaginosis. It is better to try to investigate the cause, if there is a need for action at all.
