Now it's official online too. Buckingham Palace has removed Prince Harry's title of "His Royal Highness" from his biography on the royal family's website.
"His Royal Highness" (HRH) was once! Prince Harry, 38, has long since lost this title. However, this was not yet apparent on the palace's website. Here Harry was still listed as HRH. Until now.
Prince Harry is no longer His Royal Highness
Without much fanfare, Buckingham Palace also made the change in the biography of King Charles's younger son, 74, on the royal family's homepage. The only surprise is the late timing, because the change itself dates back to the Megxit times three years ago, when Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan, 42, resigned from their positions as senior royals.
According to a tip from the tabloid
Palace staff removed "His Royal Highness" from the Duke of Sussex's profile page shortly after express.co.uk pointed out the "major mistake" last Friday. Further changes further degrade the Sussexes. Harry and Meghan's names have been moved to the bottom of the family's main page as part of the changes - below the firm's working members, but just above Charles' disgraced younger brother, Prince Andrew, 63.
Before the updates, the website had some bugs, which have now been fixed. According to reports from express.co.uk, Harry was referred to twice as HRH on the site and also as the youngest son of the Prince of Wales, which was Charles' title before it passed to his firstborn, Prince William, 41. William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, were also referred to on the website as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge until recently.
All errors have now been corrected.
Another bug was fixed faster
So while it took the royal family three years to remove HRH Harry's title from their website, an error relating to an exhibition at Kensington Palace in June 2021 was corrected much more quickly.
Next to the world-famous wedding dress of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, †36, from 1981, there was a sign that read: "Awarded by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex." After fans noticed the "administrative error," it was corrected just days later and replaced with "Awarded by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex."
Harry and Meghan had agreed to give up their HRH titles after stepping down as senior members of the royal family in January 2020 and emigrating to the United States.
